Hangin' with the Judge

Several months ago I decided to really work on playing out more in Nashville, honing my live show with a band, and building up a local fan base---easier said than done, but slowly but surely I'm getting that ball rolling. I've been lucky to get great players lined up for all my local September shows: Judge Bean's BBQ, a label showcase at the Basement, and "Americana Tonight" at the Sutler.

I'm hoping to turn the Judge Bean's thing into a semi-regular event, so if you find yourself in there sometime make sure to ask when Zane Williams will be playing again. And try the brisket tacos, because they're freakin' awesome. :)

We had a sweet band last week---Billy Contreras on fiddle, David Spicher on bass, and Matt Raum on mandolin...

Even the bobcat was diggin' it. (He's deaf though, so that's not saying much...)

And, for those of you who don't mind a 4 MB download, click here for a short Windows Media Clip from the show. Well thanks, keep in touch, and start thinking about coming to that label showcase on the 20th if you're in town! Peace,

@ Valerie and Erica... Yeah, I remember you three! There weren't that many people that were brave and/or interested enough to sit up close. Thank you all for looking me up and writing---glad to know people were enjoying the show.
Erica, your comment about "You made that country sound I've grown up to reject seem so much more lighthearted and appealing to me" is pretty much exactly what I'm trying to do with my music. I didn't grow up listening to country, and for me the more acoustic approach makes it a lot more universal and cool. My new album really fulfills that vision---it will be out in January and we'll get to see if anyone else agrees with us or not. :) Thanks for writing and keep in touch! (I'm playing a noon show at Labette Community College tomorrow if you've got any friends down there.) And Drury the next day. Peace...

Love you too Kelsey! Way more than Judge Bean's brisket tacos! Luckily though, living in Nashville, I get to have both.... Z

    Zane,
I always like it when you post video and music clips. It lets left coast people like me get a taste of your shows since we can't make it in person. Keep it up.

Are you ever going to make it back to South Texas?

@Derek... Yeah, I guess the photos and video will have to suffice until I can get back down to Texas. How's Houston?

@Bekah... May be hard to believe, but I haven't fixed garbage pizza once since that class.... :)

@John... I'm workin' on it. I met a Houston-based record label last week that I'm hoping to talk to, and if something like that ever worked out I think they'd be able to help me tour a lot in Texas which is a major goal of mine. Just need a few more pieces of the puzzle to fall into place...
