2000 miles on a giant jackalope is hard going |
Life on the road is full of temptations. OK, so I don't have people offering me illicit drugs, or a bunch of women trying to get me in bed with them. (Actually, there is this one....) But I do have cable TV. How can I concentrate on my to-do list when the Crocodile Hunter is on my TV screen, lovingly cradling a seven foot cobra that clearly wants him dead? And there are other scenarios that test my resolve, like the almost daily ritual of being forced to sit in one spot for several hours with a one pound bag of Skittles within easy reach. Forgive me Father, for I have sinned.

Rockin' UNI with Josh Gracin |
I tell you though, it's all worth it when I take the stage next to the salad bar and make some unsuspecting freshman choke on a tater tot when I sing "The Worst Case Scenario Song". And actually, we really have had some great shows in some very nice venues on this trip. South Dakota State University put me in a large, new auditorium and enhanced my show with a breath-taking light display, while the University of Northern Iowa had people packed in so close to the stage that I almost crowd surfed! But then I didn't.

Hail to the "The Wahpper"---Wahpeton, ND |
And as if all this success on the road was not enough, I am proud to announce that I have officially found a co-producer for my new CD!! I'll be recording in January and February of 2005 with Mitch Dane, who has produced several CDs that I admire for artists such as Jars of Clay, Bebo Norman, and Randall Goodgame. The goal is to capture my songs in a more genuine way than has ever been done before, with lots of personality and a very acoustic, thoughtfully-crafted feel. I don't think it's an understatement to say that the past five years have been preparing me to make this album, and that it will usher in a completely new era in my musical career! Maybe we can tie it in with a new line of Zane Williams Brand hair care products. That could be huge. Peace out,
